---------------------------------------------------
I`ve got an 89 T-Bar and on the side of my drivers seat the leather has
split, apparently this is not too much of a problem because it is a seperate
stiched oin panel. Also the rest of the leather is a little cracked but have
been told that saddle soap could fix the problem.

As with the dials they are very easy to read, and as far as I know the
gearstick knob is just threaded on so you can twist it off, I dont know that
for certain because I`ve never had the need to change it.

Just one other thing, i`m on my second MR2 MK1 and its most definatly the
best car I`ve ever driven.
-------------------------------------------------
Watch the sunroof frame if you're over 6' tall (ouch). The lumbar
support on the driver's seat breaks. The air vent under the dash makes
your nuts cold. Oh, and don't try to put the kids in the back seat.
Otherwise it's great!

-----------------------------------------------------
I've driven a friend's car - from what I remember, the interior looked
a  bit dated and the (original) stereo was crap - we spent an afternoon
messing with the tape azimuth and eventually got it sounding quite
good!  Air conditioning is a pipe dream on UK cars - not sure about
elsewhere.

-------------------------------------------------------
Generally, they're fantastic cars - as easy to drive as a little
shopping car, but very fast and efficient because of their low weight.
I prefer them to the Mk2 or Mk3 (vandal magnet because it's a
soft-top).  Would be in my top 5 of all time "I want" cars, but there
aren't many good ones left now :-(
----------------------------------------
Piece of advice - the soundproofing is limited, so if you fit a K&N
induction kit you'll wish you hadn't ;-)
--------------------------------------------
Just my two cents, but I think the Mark I interior of the MR2 is the
most beautiful ever designed in a car.  The high gearshift, the
wrap-around cockput, the Gemini space capsule-like interior is one of
the most appealing and sporty I have ever experienced.  I think a 1988
all-black interior with a 5 speed--you just cant get better than that
for a sports car, in my opinion.
